NISA CUP FINAL 2008

Morning meeting

As you may already be aware, two Telford skaters, Darcy-Adele Lloyd and
Stephanie Laing qualified for the NISA Cup this year and for those of you who could not make it to Deeside to cheer them on I thought you might like to share with us the atmosphere and camaraderie on the day.

The teams came out behind the flag bearers of England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland and you could not hear yourself think for the cheers and noise. There was more than one person choking back a tear or two!

Darcy and Steph did a grand job helping England to win the Cup for the second year running. The competition carried on most of the afternoon and then came the closing ceremony when once again all the skaters did a lap of honour behind their respective flags but this time the competitors were draped in flags and carrying balloons thoroughly enjoying the moment. The rink once again erupted with cheers when the presentations were made and Land of Hope and Glory was sung loud and clear for the England Team. (here came the tears again)!!

We were overwhelmed by how many came to support Darcy and
Steph and can only apologise if we didn’t keep enough seats for you all but we ran out of cardies, coats and bags to put on chairs!! It won’t be long before your children qualify and we can return the favour.

Thank you so much for sharing such a special day with us.
