LEE VALLEY SCORCHER
Telford Ice Skating Club sizzled on the hottest weekend of the year so far in Lee Valley,
London on the 10th and 11th May ’08, but not just because of the heat …..
Kicking off the day was Charlotte Murray who represented us in the Beginners Girls 10 years
Old competition and finished 11th out of 16 skaters, well done Charlotte. Next to skate was
Katie Green in the Beginners Girls 11 years old competition and finished a proud 2nd out of 7
skaters – a very well done to you Katie, I think her Dad will need to extend the mantle-piece
soon! Finishing off the day was Phoebe Clark who skated in the Level 1 Girls age 11 and
over – and finished 6th out of 16, well done to you too Phoebe.
On Saturday evening we all went out to Frankie & Benny’s, requiring a table for 17 – you
should have seen the waiters face! (but they did cope quite admirably) and had a very jolly
time indeed, a lovely end to the day! Incidentally, it may be useful to know but our new
Vice-Chair provides free table entertainment for children, so anyone needing a baby-sitter you
know who to call…..
Off to an extremely early start at 7am in the morning – well done to everyone for getting up to
come along for day 2! Starting the day off with a bang was Brieanne Jones skating in the
Level 1 Girls 10 years old, very well done Brieanne who finished 2nd out of 5. Our next
Telford skater was Lauren Capes-Bursell in the Level 2 Ladies 11 years and under – finishing
2nd out of 13, well done to you Lauren. Safe journeys were had by all and are all looking
